Markedet for mobile radioer viser solid vækst
Markedet for 'private mobile radios, PMR' voksede med 15 procent i 2010, fastslår IMS Reseach. De analoge systemer dominerer fortsat, men den digitale andel vokser (in english).
The Worldwide professional mobile radio (PMR) terminal market jumped a staggering 15% in terms of unit volumes in 2010 (compared to 2009), according to the latest data from IMS Research.
Analysis reveals strong growth across the Worldwide PMR terminal market, where IMS Research’s latest figures indicate that revenue growth in 2010 was also higher than the market anticipated. This is seen as great news for the industry following a 2009 that saw huge declines.
The latest data from IMS Research indicates that the licensed analogue market was hit the hardest in 2009 but has shown a good recovery in 2010, back to near recession levels. The analogue bounce back was mainly due to the Asian based markets, however, forecasts show that digital technologies are now set to increase market share at pace.
Motorola’s one million 'digital mobile radios, DMR, terminal shipments announcement in June further confirms that the PMR markets migration-to-digital is increasing in pace, although North America and parts of Europe are seeing this trend already.
Thomas Lynch, Mobile Radio Market Analyst at IMS Research states:
- The pace of the migration-to-digital is set to increase, with very interesting statistics being shown from what we term here as 'Cost-Optimised Digital' technologies. However, growth of other high-end digital technologies including P25 and TETRA remains strong with double figure growth expected in key regions.
With new players and new technologies entering the digital market, it is exciting times for the PMR industry. That said, analogue still continues to hold the greatest market share in terms of volumes.”
