Danske firmaer viser energivenlige produkter med Z-Wave teknologi
Danfoss og GridManger A/S vil på 'smart metering' udstilling i Wien præsentere nye produkter, hvor der indgår Z-Wave baseret kommunikationsteknologi (in english).
The home automation segment is becoming increasingly linked with the field of smart metering – a market that is growing and which offers solutions for end consumers and also for energy suppliers and service providers.
Members of the Z-Wave Alliance will be demonstrating such solutions from 22nd to 24th September 2010 at Hall B, booth C26, at the 12th Metering & Billing/CRM Europe in Vienna.
Among others, the manufacturers 3view, Danfoss and Gridmanager will be presenting some of the latest additions to their Z-Wave portfolios at stand C26 in Vienna.
Danfoss thermostats enable energy savings of 23 %
Replacing an 'old' radiator thermostat with an electronic radiator thermostat from the living by Danfoss series enables energy savings of 23 percent to be made according to a study made by the Aachen University. Danfoss Z-Wave thermostats give users the opportunity to define heating intervals. Domestic residences are thus only heated when required.
The temperature can be set individually for each room – for example a living room can remain warm during the day whereas a bedroom can be heated to a pleasant temperature just prior to bedtime. The Z-Wave chips integrated into the living connect thermostats also allow these devices to be included in home control networks other than Danfoss networks, as they can communicate with Z-Wave compatible devices from other manufacturers including those that are Internet and smart phone enabled.
GridManager provides added value for energy suppliers
Another Danish company GridManager A/S is the developer of a SmartGrid technology of the same name which enables energy suppliers and municipal public utilities to supplement their portfolio of services with a comprehensive service package focusing on the field of smart metering for end consumers. The solution unites aspects such as energy monitoring and management, consumer behaviour analysis and load distribution.
The GridManager package includes wireless monitoring sensors, a wireless network agent and an interactive web portal in which domestic energy consumption can be clearly illustrated, monitored and analysed. In this way, customers can also check their energy consumption remotely or allow energy suppliers to manage specific approved areas.
This allows grid overloads to be avoided and ensures that only the amount of energy actually required is produced. The energy supplier itself has the opportunity to offer targeted managed services based on GridManager technology.
Television as an energy control centre
UK-based 3view has integrated Z-Wave technology into its Internet connected HD set-top box. This means users can now not only watch and record HD broadcast content and access the internet through their TV, but they can also control home appliances. 3view is the first set-top box, allowing energy usage data to be stored and acting as a central controller for lights, heating, ventilation, alarm system and any other compatible Z-wave devices through a single TV remote control. The company will be showcasing the device at the trade fair stand.
At stand C26, visitors can also find out about Z-Wave solutions from Alliance members Aeon Labs, NorthQ and There Corporation. Further information is available at www.z-wavealliance.org and www.metering-europe.com.
