RTX får EU-penge til videreudvikling af ULP-teknologi

Sammen med SiTel Semiconductor har RTX Telecom fået EU-penge til videreudvikling af firmaernes 'Ultra Low Power' wireless teknologi (in english).

The European Union’s Eurostars Programme has awarded RTX with funding for research and development (R&D) into standardized energy-efficient wireless communication technology.

This new energy-efficient wireless platform is part of a large-scale R&D project based on the standardized development of Ultra Low Power (ULP) Technology for wireless applications, which is being conducted jointly by SiTel Semiconductor BV and RTX Telecom A/S.

The main objective of developing this flexible, power optimized platform is to reduce energy usage by wireless communication devices. The R&D project distinguishes itself from other initiatives within the field by focusing on aspects related to both the amount of energy needed per transferred bit and the energy used during device standby.

With this new power optimized wireless platform, RTX takes the initiative to provide green solutions that address the increasing demand for applications such as intelligent control of white goods, security installations, intelligent fire alarms, and body-worn healthcare devices for remote patient and elderly monitoring.

The R&D project initiated primarily focuses on the residential market for home automation, also known as 'domotics'  - however, this green wireless platform can also be utilized for industrial, healthcare, and enterprise applications.

Jesper Mailind, CEO, RTX Telecom A/S, says:
- Receiving funding from Eurostars for the development of this new communication platform is regarded by RTX as validation of the need for energy-efficient wireless solutions for the telecom and domotics ecosystems. We expect ULE to be a major growth opportunity in the near future, and RTX is committed to remaining a leader in this area in the coming years.

Eurostars ensures fast-track research funding for ambitious R&D projects of innovative small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in high technology sectors. The Eurostars Programme offers ambitious and innovative SMEs a single access point at national level to both national and European research funding. It for instance provides harmonised evaluation and synchronised funding timetables, leading to fast results that can be brought to market rapidly
