Texas Instruments vil i front med wireless power

Texas Instruments lancerer nu et kit til brug i forbindelse med udvikling af wireless power systemer til low-power applikationer som digitale kameraer, GPS-systemer og smart-phones (in english).

Texas Instruments (TI) has introduced the industry’s first Qi-certified wireless power development kit, which enables design engineers to speed the integration of wireless power technology in consumer electronics, such as digital cameras, smartphones, MP3 players and global positioning systems, along with infrastructure applications such as furniture and cars.

The bqTELSA development kit includes a single-channel transmitter, a direct-charge receiver and associated magnetics for applications requiring 5 watts of power or less. With no additional software development required, the bqTESLA allows for true plug-and-play functionality and is designed for compatibility with Wireless Power Consortium’s Qi standard.

The key components of the bqTESLA development kit is:
• bq500110 wireless power transmitter manager
• bq25046 single-input, 5-V power supply IC
• MSP430bq1010 wireless power control and communications

The development kit is in full production and available for immediate purchase. The kit is offered at a promotional price of $250 during CES 2011.  After the show, it will be priced at $499 and can be ordered at www.ti.com/bqTESLA100LP-preu.  In addition, the individual components of the kit are available for purchase in production quantities.
