EBV sætter fuld fokus på EuP-direktivet

EBV Elektronik søsætter i tæt samarbejde med det tyske Ökopol institut informationskampagne om EU’s EuP (Energy-using Products) direktiv (in english).

EBV Elektronik introduces a strategic information campaign about the European Union’s EuP Directive. In cooperation with the independent institute \'Ökopol\', EBV, as the first electronic components distributor worldwide, proactively informs its customers about all news, challenges and opportunities of this directive.

In addition to seminars, the EuP Directive will be the focus of a series of articles on the \'ECOmise it\' portal of EBV’s website. An overview about the current status of all directives is available at www.ebv.com/eup .

The EuP Directive evaluates the cost of materials and the energy consumption of equipment during its entire life cycle – from production to recycling and provides acceptable product guidelines. Many companies now have to ask themselves: “Am I still allowed to ship my product tomorrow?” Initially this sounds complex, however, it can also offer big opportunities.

- We want to free the EuP Directive from its negative image and show companies the many possibilities that come with it to differentiate their products from those of their competitors, says Rudy Van Parijs, Vice President Technical Development at EBV.

In order to give comprehensive information to customers, EBV, together with Dr. Norbert Reintjes from Ökopol, will release articles on a regular basis about all EuP news and the status of the decision processes in Brussels. The focus is on who is affected by the EuP – and there are more than expected.

-  Everyone must be aware: if worse comes to worst, you could lose your certification! The consequence to companies is an expensive fine, as well as companies needing to recall their products if they do not comply with the EuP Directive, continues Rudy Van Parijs.

For certain product groups, mandatory deadlines already exist – especially for medium and small enterprises. This alone should be reason enough to move away from the current avoidance strategy.

Learning about the directive early on will help minimise the effort and utilise the opportunities – with support from EBV. A first introductory article, \'New Minimum Requirements Change the European Market for Energy-Using Products\' by Dr. Norbert Reintjes from Ökopol, offers a concise and coherent overview about the EuP Directive.

Additional articles about special product groups will be released on a regular basis within the next couple of weeks and will be available. Moreover, customers can receive up-to-date information about the status of guidelines for product groups, including definite release dates from EBV. For further questions, customers just need to contact their local EBV representative.
