Kamstrup lancerer 'smart' metre med Z-Wave teknologi

With a potent new tool for monitoring and managing home energy usage Kamstrup empower consumers to better manage energy use. The company’s new generation of residential smart meters, marketed under the slogan ‘The Green Difference’, feature the globally recognised Z-Wave standard. This means that monitoring of electricity can now be integrated with intelligent home networks. Consumers can monitor their consumption data at any time.
The modular design of the Kamstrup smart meters allows utilities worldwide to offer residential consumers the choice of running intelligent home control. Consumers can easily access energy usage information, such as load, current energy consumption and accumulated energy consumption via their computer or in-home display. This allows consumers to follow their consumption figures on a daily basis and make their desired adjustments. Kamstrup smart meters are designed to make reading data easy and secure.
Z-Wave is a two-way wireless communication protocol for smart home control applications. At present, the technology has been implemented in more than 300 home control devices.
The Z-Wave Advanced Energy Control (AEC) Framework now makes it possible to integrate smart meters into home control solutions. For energy suppliers and smart meter manufacturers this opens up unique opportunities for developing intelligent, environmentally-friendly energy management systems for the home. In doing so, they provide maximum transparency in domestic energy consumption and allow consumers to actively control energy-consuming devices in their homes.
‘The Green Difference’ has not gone unnoticed by the Danish Electricity Saving Trust (DEST), Energisparefonden. The DEST is a national, non-profit organisation which promotes energy-saving practices among consumers and public institutions. Göran Wilke, Head of Secretariat at DEST, welcomes the ‘green’ meter concept:
- Unlike their mechanical counterparts, smart meters provide real-time information about energy consumption which thereby improves energy-awareness. Furthermore, the Kamstrup smart meter is an energy-efficient device itself, consuming just 0.6 watt. Using devices such as this can also reduce CO2 emissions on a long-term basis.
