PCIM med fokus på energireduktion
Power elektronik udstillingen/konferencen PCIM Europe 2008, der afholdes 12 - 14 maj i Nürnberg, sætter fuld fokus på energieffektivitet (in english).
The PCIM (Power Conversion Intelligent Motion) Europe exhibition and conference taking place from 12 - 14 May 2009 in Nuremberg, Germany, is the meeting place for experts from the power electronic, intelligent motion and power quality sector.
This year cutting energy consumption is one of the principal topics for the business world. Power electronics which can achieve rapid and considerable reductions are making an important contribution in this field.
Research from ZVEI (Central Association of Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industries) shows that over 15% of the energy in electrical drives (amounting to 27,5 M rd kWh) could be saved by using power electronics and intelligent motion technology.
This red hot topic is dominating this year’s PCIM Europe – an event at which even this year almost the whole power industry is represented. 250 companies will be exhibiting their products and solutions. In the conference experts from across the world will be covering the subject in numerous lectures and presenting the latest developments in research and industry.
The main exhibits range from semiconductors, components and sensors, intelligent motion, motors and rectifiers through to power management systems, simulation and design software, as well as many of the latest developments in the power electronics sector.
The pre-registration figures for visitors clearly show that the interest in PCIM Europe 2009 is unwaning. The development of new products and solutions right now is the key to a company’s success. PCIM Europe 2009 offers a comprehensive overview of the latest trends and developments in the power industry and thus provides some urgently needed, forward looking momentum for the successful development of the market.
Exhibition Forum
The forum in the exhibition offers presentations free of charge. Besides the exhibitors’ vendor presentations, which provide visitors with information on recent innovations in the industry, experts from the power electronics, intelligent motion and power quality sectors will discuss the following topics at the forum:
\"Semiconductor Materials for Higher Efficiency in Power\"
(Led by Bodo Arlt, Chief-Editor of Bodo’s Power Magazine)
\"Power Designs for Ecological and Economic Success\"
(Led by Cliff Keys, Chief-Editor of Power Systems Design Europe & North America)
Tutorials and Conference
The ten tutorials being held on 12 May 2009 and the more than 150 presentations taking place at the parallel conference will offer a unique opportunity for participants to gain practical insight into power electronics and their applications in Europe. The exchange with experts and the learning opportunities offer a timely chance for companies to gain an advantage in the current economic situation. Networking and information on the latest trends have never been more important.
On the topic of energy efficiency, the General Conference Director of PCIM Europe, Prof. Alfred Rufer, EPFL has commented: “The power and energy sector has never been as important as it is today. The demand for energy efficient converters is driving development in topology and in semiconductor devices and passives in particular.”
The tutorial “Higher Efficiency Power Conversion through ‘Intelligent’ Power Processing” by Ionel Dan Jitaru of Delta Energy Systems, USA targets power electronics engineers and technical directors. Participants will learn more about the latest developments in performance improvement and cost savings.
On Tuesday 12 May 2009, Dr. Andreas Falk of SMA Solar Technologies, in his keynote presentation “Efficiency of Inverters for Solar Plants”, will look at the trends and developments of power electronics in the photovoltaic sector.
On Wednesday 13 May Bombardier Transportation’s Christian Gerster will address a number of themes including the increase in energy efficiency as a major trend in his presentation “Technology Trends in Railway Traction”. “Green Data Center”, the keynote presentation on Thursday 14 May delivered by André Rouyer of APC by Schneider Electric will consider energy efficiency in data centres.
Many of the numerous conference presentations, e.g. “Devices for Efficient Converters” or “Energy Efficient Motor and Drives” will see industry experts reporting on the latest results and trends.
The Best Paper Award goes to a lecture entitled “Energy Efficiency in Automotive, Industrial and Mobile Power Electronic Applications”. The award ceremony will take place with the opening sessions on 12 May 2009.
