Atmel hædres for microcontroller

Magasinet 'Electronic Products' udnæver Atmel's XMEGA microcontroller til årets produkt (in english).

Atmes XMEGA microcontroller has been awarded the 2008 Product of the Year by Electronic Products’ Magazine. The XMEGA-famíly was introduced in early 2008 and has until now over 400 design wins according to Atmel.

The editors of Electronic Products - a leading trade publication for electronic design engineers - evaluated thousands of products launched in 2008. The winning products were selected on the basis of innovative design, significant advancement in technology or application and substantial achievement in price and performance. The XMEGA was awarded this prestigious honor due to its unique design features that provide unmatched high performance at very low power. This is accomplished through its proprietary event management circuitry that provides the highest speed-power ratio for today’s 8/16-bit microcontrollers. 

- We thought the AVR XMEGA processor was very innovative and, for many applications, brought the performance level of the 8-bit CPU up to an entirely new level. In some cases, it raises system performance of the 8/16-bit microcontroller up to, or even superior to, 32-bit processors, says Jim Harrison, editor of Electronic Products.
