TDK Corporation announces that its subsidiary TDK Electronics AG has reached an important global sustainability milestone. All the company’s production sites are now fully powered by electricity from renewable sources.

With this, TDK Electronics has achieved its 2025 target of sourcing electricity solely from renewable energy sources and reaffirmed its role as a driver of sustainable transformation in the electronics industry. As a result, CO2 emissions have been reduced by around 170,000 metric tons per year compared to the base year 2015.

- By switching to renewable energy, we are making an important contribution to a sustainable future. I am very pleased that, in line with our ambitious climate protection goals, we have now decarbonized electricity sourcing at all TDK Electronics plants, says Dr. Werner Lohwasser, CEO and COO of TDK Electronics.

While some production sites, such as Gravatai in Brazil or Deutschlandsberg in Austria, have been using green electricity for many years, the remaining sites have also switched this year.

Batam (Indonesia) has been sourcing green electricity since April 2025, and the two Indian sites in Nashik and Kalyani followed in August and October this year. In addition, electricity is now generated at 13 sites through photovoltaic systems on rooftops or by external solar parks. For example, at the Nashik site (India), two external solar parks and rooftop systems cover around 75% of the annual electricity demand.

By fully transitioning to renewable electricity, TDK Electronics contributes directly to the TDK Environmental Vision 2050 and the goal of realizing a carbon-neutral value chain. This achievement demonstrates how collective action and innovation within the Group are driving meaningful progress towards a more sustainable and resilient society.
