German network and security supplier Rohde & Schwarz Networks and Cybersecurity (formally LANCOM Systems) is expanding its wireless LAN portfolio with a new Wi-Fi 7 outdoor access point. The R&S LANCOM OW-702 is the ideal solution for stable and professional multi-Gigabit Wi-Fi in open areas with small to medium numbers of users.
Parking spaces, cold stores, production halls, or warehouses can be seamlessly networked using this robust, IP67 protection-rated outdoor model. The R&S®LANCOM OW-702 can be managed either highly automatically via the R&S LANCOM Management Cloud or through an intuitive web interface. Management by WLAN controller is also an option.
By supporting the Wi-Fi 7 standard, the R&S LANCOM OW-702 offers additional capacity gains and minimizes interference in crowded wireless environments. Aggregated data rates of up to 3.6 Gbps make this access point the ideal choice for environments with high data throughput. The included omni-directional antennas provide wide coverage, while optional sector antennas allow for targeted coverage of specific areas. The scope of delivery also includes accessories for wall or pole mounting.
Reliable operations under extreme conditions are ensured by the dust-proof and water-jet-resistant IP67 protective housing and an extended temperature range from -30°C to +65°C. Power is supplied via PoE (802.3at), which allows for easy installation even in hard-to-reach locations.
The Bluetooth Low Energy radio module (BLE 5.4) integrated into the R&S®LANCOM OW-702 forms the basis for modern BLE beaconing-based applications, such as asset tracking, indoor navigation or visitor counting outdoors.
Built-in security
Comprehensive security features such as WPA3-Personal and WPA3-Enterprise, as well as the simple, user-friendly connection of new clients via QR code, ensure the highest level of Wi-Fi security.

Versatile management and cloud-readiness
The R&S LANCOM OW-702 operates as a standalone unit or as managed via the cloud. When operating standalone, an intuitive web interface (WEBconfig) provides an optimal overview: Modern dashboards display the current Wi-Fi status and simplify the configuration of individual networks (SSIDs) and network keys.
When managed via the R&S LANCOM Management Cloud (R&S LMC), configuration is fully automated and requires no manual intervention (zero-touch deployment) thanks to software-defined networking (SDN). It can also operate via a WLAN controller or a virtual controller in a R&S LANCOM vRouter.
Wi-Fi at the touch of a button
The automation solution R&S LANCOM Active Radio Control 2.0 scans, analyzes, and optimizes the Wi-Fi even at locations with data-intensive applications, high numbers of users, or interfering external networks.
Even under complex conditions, a holistic, self-learning optimization of the Wi-Fi installation improves channel distribution, channel-width utilization, and transmission power. Access points managed via the R&S LANCOM Management Cloud can also be prioritized according to their usage. Based on actual utilization patterns, capacity is provided exactly where it is needed. This saves manual work for IT administrators and quickly optimizes the Wi-Fi installation.
Future viability with guaranteed updates
For maximum investment protection, Rohde & Schwarz Networks and Cybersecurity offers free security and feature updates for up to two years after the product's end of sale (EOS). If the device warranty is extended, feature updates are guaranteed for up to five years after EOS. In many cases, critical security fixes and support reach far beyond that.
