Rohde & Schwarz afholder power-seminarer
Creating Real-World Test Conditions: Powering, Loading and Emulating
Reliable measurements start with realistic and well-controlled operating conditions. This session provides a practical framework for selecting and combining AC and DC sources, electronic loads and bidirectional regenerative systems around power-electronic devices under test.
Using examples from battery, PV, motor-drive and grid-connected applications, we will explore power flow, dynamic response, emulation, protection, energy regeneration and test-system integration - setting the stage for the subsequent sessions on three-phase power measurement, efficiency and compliance.
Three-Phase Power Analysis using oscilloscopes
How far can a modern oscilloscope take three-phase power analysis? In this session, we explore how the oscilloscope can be used as a flexible tool for three-phase power analysis.
See how time-domain analysis can reveal dynamic events in three-phase systems, while phasor diagrams provide a clear view of phase relationships and system behaviour.
Efficiency (Power Analyzer)
Stricter energy-efficiency regulations and power-density targets are pushing converters to the point where measurement errors can lead to significant mismatches.
This presentation covers how to define efficiency at the right operating points in single- and multi-phase systems, capture input and output power, efficiency and power quality parameters in the presence of ripple, harmonics, and fast switching, and build a repeatable measurement process.
Compliance and certification (Power Analyzer)
Every grid-tied power electronics product must clear a defined set of compliance and certification standards:
EMC compliance including harmonic and flicker limits at the LV connection (IEC/EN 61000-3-2/-12 and 61000-3-3/-11) for CE marking, and proven conversion efficiency under real operating conditions, often above 95%, where measurement uncertainty can decide 80 PLUS and similar certifications.
Distorted waveforms, dynamic loads, and rising power density make both tasks harder than datasheet numbers suggest. This session presents the standards that apply, and how T&M equipment can support the path from development through conformity.
