ASMPT åbner første europæiske kompetencecenter for halvlederløsninger

ASMPT, der hører til verdens førende leverandører af hardware- og softwareløsninger til halvleder og elektronikproduktion, åbner nu deres første europæiske kompetencecenter i Tyskland (in english).

ASMPT, a worlds leading supplier of hardware and software solutions for semiconductor and electronics manufacturing,  has opened its first European SEMI CenterCenter of Competence (CoC) in Regensburg, Germany. This latest facility adds to ASMPT’s network of R&D and innovation facilities across the world, serving European customers as a key proof-of-concept facility for innovations and applications for its broad semiconductor solutions (SEMI) portfolio, and a direct point of contact for the efficient and rapid transfer of knowledge.

ASMPT, well-known in Europe for its leading SMT hardware and software solutions, already has a key SMT Center of Competence in Munich, Germany. The new Regensburg facility will focus on ASMPT’s SEMI solutions business, which provides a broad range of assembly and packaging equipment for the microelectronics, semiconductor, photonics, and optoelectronics industries, offering a diverse product portfolio from bonding to moulding and trim & form, to the integration of these functions into complete in-line systems.

Robin Ng, Group Chief Executive Officer of ASMPT, launched the EU SEMI CoC facility, which is sited within ASMPT AMICRA (the company’s subsidiary in the SEMI segment) in Regensburg.

- Our customers expect a local presence for their research and development activities as well as timely and competent knowledge transfer. With this EU SEMI Center of Competence, we are able to support our many customers both in their development of new applications, and to help ensure the success of new technologies that are being developed. We see several key opportunities in this region, for example within the automotive and photonics sectors in Germany.

Proofs of concept for Industry 4.0

Globally, ASMPT operates various R&D and innovation centers around the world.

At these modern facilities showcasing the latest equipment and solutions, new technologies can be comprehensively demonstrated, and customers can ascertain each innovation’s impact on electronics manufacturing processes and systems.

Customers will also be able to collaborate with ASMPT’s experts supporting each CoC on their interest areas and priorities for their development and production needs. Through close technology partnerships with other companies, these facilities also function as enablers for the integrated smart factories of the future.

Providing resilience in the supply chain

The EU SEMI CoC provides a defence against overall increased volatility in the global electronics supply chain. Over the last 2 to 3 years, supply chain disruptions have validated ASMPT’s focus on setting up regional research and development centers to serve its customers better.
