RTX klar med verdens første IPv6-enablede DECT ULE modul

I forbindelse med Broadband World Forum udstillingen vil danske RTX demonstrere det første IPv6-enablede DECT ULE modul (in english).

RTX, a leading Danish provider of wireless communications solutions, announces the world’s first IPv6-enabled DECT ULE wireless module at the Broadband World Forum show (www.broadbandworldforum.com), being held between 16th-18th October at the RAI Center, Amsterdam.
 
The RTX DECT ULE module (RTX 1050 / 1055) will be on the DECT Forum stand (B51) at Broadband World Forum. RTX will showcase the use of an IPv6-enabled DECT ULE module for innovative wireless low power devices and applications that will help make the 'Internet of Things' a reality. All devices, from fridges to fire alarms, will eventually be connected to the internet as well as to cloud services, and RTX’s new module will be an important part of enabling such connectivity for new devices.
 
DECT ULE is the 'ultra-low energy' variant of the DECT standard, which uses the 1.9GHz band and suffers less interference than Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Zigbee that operate at 2.4GHz.

It provides connectivity to the internet for battery-powered equipment or metering applications (such as home automation, healthcare, security systems and smart metering systems) within a 300-meter range. IPv6 is the latest version of the IP protocol and is an important development because, with the ever-increasing number of new devices being connected to the internet, it replaces IPv4, which is running out of IP addresses. With IPv6 this cannot happen - all devices and all sensors can have their own IP address.

The module will enable enterprises and service providers to migrate to IPv6 and give the critical connectivity for applications supporting low-powered devices on the internet. The module is built upon proven silicon technology from the long term RTX partner, Dialog Semiconductor Plc.
 
About DECT ULE

The DECT Ultra Low Energy (ULE) is a recent addition to the DECT interface primarily intended for low-bandwidth, low-power applications such as sensor devices, smart meters, home automation etc. As the DECT Ultra Low Energy interface inherits many of the capabilities from DECT, it benefits from long range, interference free operation, world-wide reserved frequency band, low silicon prices and maturity. There is an added value in the ability to communicate with IPv6 over DECT ULE.
 
About IPv6

IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) is the latest revision of the Internet Protocol, the primary communications protocol upon which the Internet is built. IPv6 is intended to replace the older IPv4, which is still employed for the vast majority of internet traffic. IPv6 was developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to deal with the long-anticipated problem of IPv4 running out of IP addresses.

IPv6 implements a new IP address system that allows for far more addresses to be assigned than is possible with IPv4. (IPv6 uses 128- bit addresses, allowing for 2128, or approximately 3.4×1038 addresses — more than 7.9×1028 times as many as IPv4, which uses 32-bit addresses).
